I would recommend this book. It was a fast, engaging read. I want to read the sequel Mr. Terupt Falls Again.
Struck By Lightning by Chris Colfer

I just wasn't inspired by this read. It was full of vindictive, negative characters. I much preferred Chris's children's book The Land of Stories. This one is definitely NOT for young kids.

ReplyDeleteI think Chris Colfer's books are definitely for 2 different audiences. My 11 year old loved The Land of Stories but I won't be giving her Struck by Lightning.

ReplyDeleteI admire Chris Colfer - I think he is clearly a very talented young guy and he is a good writer. I just didn't find much to relate to in Struck By Lightning.

I have not seen Sold before. Judging from Sherry's comment, I gather it's sad. I am interested in reading ParaNorman. I'll be interested in what you think. Happy Holidays!

DeleteI love Elizabeth Cody Kimmel's books, so I'll have to pick up Paranorman. As for the Colfer, I don't need any more negative books.

DeleteI have Mr. Terupt Falls Again out from the library right now. Need to get it read! So ... The Land of Stories was good? I can't usually deal with celebrity books but this is not the first time I've heard from others that it's worth it. Will have to add it to the TBR list. But maybe not Lightning.
ReplyDeleteI loved The Land of Stories, yes. I have a student reading it now and he loves it. I felt compelled to read it, mainly because Chris has stated that he had the idea for the book since childhood. It wasn't one of the typical "I'm a celebrity - let me write a book" situations.
